Bonnybridge Curling Club was instituted in 1847 and admitted to Royal Caledonian Curling Club membership in 1875. There were regular reports in the press at the time of outdoor contests with other local clubs on various frozen ponds around Bonnybridge from the 1850s onwards.
Like most other clubs in Stirlingshire Province, however, our indoor curling activities were located initially at Falkirk Ice Rink and then the Williamfield rink in Torbrex before the new ice rink at The Peak was opened. The club has been a member of the Small Curling Clubs Alliance since its inception but participates in a number of other competitions at local, Province and national level. Our curling season runs from September through to the end of March with most games taking place in the evening at The Peak.
Bonnybridge is a mixed club and present numbers are just adequate to meet playing commitments with most members enjoying frequent opportunities to engage in their popular sport. New members are always welcome to join us at the splendid and modern facilities at The Peak where “Come and Try” curling events are organised on a regular basis and coaching practices can also be arranged.
If you are interested in joining a small, friendly, sociable group of curling enthusiasts and giving the “roarin’ game” a fair try, please contact the Club Secretary through the website contact. No previous experience required and all necessary equipment is provided at The Peak.
We very much look forward to hearing from you and then meeting you on ice.
